Penny was Two Men

This morning we woke up in our caboose. It was a little bit chilly overnight but we slept nice. Since the Railway Resort didn't have any breakfast facilities, we had to drive back to town to get some. We were recommended to eat at Penny's Diner, so we did. Penny's Diner is located in a almost canned box, silver on the outside. It was a typical American Diner, with retro booths to sit in and everything retro to see. We ate a typical breakfast: sausage patties, eggs, toast and hashbrowns. Lovely and fattening! Also, Penny is probably two men cooking food. Because no woman was working there.

We went on our way towards Eureka, California, since we really wanted to go towards the shore. It was a normal road trip, the first part through metres of snow (luckily it was laying on the side instead of literally on the road) but after a while through beautiful woods of green. We also came along Whiskeytown, a small "town" on the side of the road. There was a small road towards the town, and because I still want to buy Rody a gift, whiskey or something, we decided to give it a visit. But the road suddenly split in two. We took one road and after a 10 minute drive over a one lane road with holes and a lot of curves, we arrived at a place with two fences, both closed to the public. In the middle of nowhere. It reminded me of a sudden moment in Bulgaria... The other road took us to a picnic area for authorized people only. So no Whiskeytown for us!

We went back on our main route. There wasn't a lot to do, so we just listened to the Top2000 and drove over curvy roads through the woods and mountains. After a while we arrived at the shore. Just a few miles after that we arrived in Eureka. We were so tired that we really wanted to find a hotel, so we went to Red Lion Lodge or something to ask. It was quite expensive, and since we are kind of on a budget we wanted something for less. We went back on the road searching for another hotel. Turns out we were driving on a one way road, but in not the direction we were supposed to drive in! We were kind of shocked, because trucks and everything came our way. We just escaped it so to say. We went to a Travelodge hotel and got a room. After chilling a bit we ate some Thai food, and the server was totally flabbergasted that we came all the way from Holland to eat his food. Lol! Oh well, it was a long day with a lot of driving. But it was fun, until we got tired haha.
