Line Dancing and Steaks!

9 januari 2016 - Bend, Oregon, Verenigde Staten

Starting up in John Day with a big all American breakfast, we went on our way towards Bend, OR. It was a 3 to 4 hour drive, over small countryside roads. The more we drive, the shorter the miles get. We came across hills, rivers, painted hills (lovely geological mountains with red, green and yellow stripes formed by dry and wet periods of time), a tree with millions of shoes hanging on it (we threw my high heels on there, because those things were only $15 and sucked to walk on, they are now somewhere in the middle of nowhere) and, of course, a Starbucks corner. Hehee! The amount of cows we've seen on the road was uncountable, there's so many! On top of a hill, a viewpoint for some kind of geological volcanic mountain there was silence. I could hear my own breath. But as soon as I moved a little bit towards the cows that were down in the valley, I couldn't hear it anymore. Mooing, from every direction! Also, there was a lot of snow. We are definitely in a snowy area again, but the roads are okay to drive on :)

We looked up what to do in Bend in the local newspaper and it turns out that there is a bar where line dancing lessons are held! We checked in in the Shino Hotel (dunno if I spelled that correctly), which is kind of a Swiss alpine resort. They had a hot tub and everything! Our room was quite big and even had a fireplace. And it was around $80 including breakfast. STEP UP YOUR GAME SUPER8! After hanging out and warming up in our room we went to Maverick's Country Bar & Grill to see the local line dancing lessons.

We ate typical American foods, fries with a medium rare steak and locally brewed beer (well mom drank that, I just had a coke >:c ). Around 8 they began line dancing at the dance floor. We moved tables and enjoyed the ticking and sliding of soles on and over the ground. It sure looks easy, but the people participating didn't show ease. After an hour or so they were done and they started the annual dancing where everybody could do their own thing, style dancing, line dancing etc. There were some numbers where everybody line danced, and also numbers people didn't know the dance for. After a while the alcohol started kicking in to the people behind us, and it was time for us to go. Everything together, it was a fun day with lots of hidden treasures and new experiences. And a loss of a pair of shoes.
