Drive Slowly!

23 december 2015 - Aztec, New Mexico, Verenigde Staten

This morning we woke up to the noise from an Indian family at breakfast. We left Taos today, and we wanted to go to Pasoda Springs. We planned our trip, got our bags, I called with the bank real quick to fix some things and off we were into the snow!

Last night about a feet of snow dropped, that's around 30 centimeters. That is a lot for us! We drove to the south first, and came across a small museum. The museum (a garden) was filled with old fashioned gas pumps and other curiosa. The man who runs the shop collected all the items for over 30 years! We got some unique presents and went on our way again.

After a very snowy trip we arrived in Chama, a small town in the north. Everything was covered in white powdered snow, and so were the roads. It was kind of stressful driving there since you don't know what to expect. We ate something at the local saloon and our waitress told us, before we left for Bloomfield, that we had to drive slow! We changed plans because we thought, if we would even go more north, we would be frozen to death.

The road to Bloomfield was okay, until a certain point. Two snow plows drove behind us with an enormous speed. Mom, not used to this weather, was kind of stressed because of these huge machines catching up with her. They're enormous, but very handy. We let them pass and the road was (sorta) clean from snow. Until they stopped and returned. The road was snowy and slippery so we took it slow! After seeing some sun again, which we were very happy about, the clouds started to form another storm. Not a snow storm this time, but a real one. Me and mom drove through the lighting and hail like badasses who didn't care about a thing (secretly we were both really uncomfortable).

It was a very local storm, and it was over quickly. After arriving at Bloomfield, we decided to go to the next time, Aztec. We ate a MacFlurry, which was way to sweet, did some groceries and went to the Step Back Inn, where we are now; laying in comfortable beds hoping that there will be not a lot of snow tomorrow!
